Grout Haze Removal is so easy when pre sealed

At Lustre we provide pre-seal service prior to grouting in-situ or we can pre seal material at our factory.

Pre-grout sealing in-situ (laid material). The process requires deep clean and deep dirt extraction treatment, stain removal, paint removal, and removal of adhesive and other contaminates that are often found on building sites. The material must then be dry before pre-sealing, requiring a period without foot traffic or protective coverings.

There are advantages of pre-sealing at our factory .  At our factory we have controlled conditions, enabling us to seal edges and guarantee excellent sealer performance. When pre-sealing at our factory we are also able to fully inspect each tile and ensure it is up to customer specified finish.

Chipped Material                Pres seal Travertine                  Hone Marks

Pre checking at our factory eliminates frustration for Stone Suppliers, tilers, project managers, ensuring that when material arrives to site it has the correct surface finish, no chipped corners, staining, etches and other problems that occurs during mass production and shipping.

Lustre natural stone restoration can repair chips, scratch removal, resurface, and resolve any natural stone issues prior to the material arriving to site.

Why pre-seal?

Prevention is better than a cure.

All porous building materials such as terracotta tiles, sandstone, limestone, travertine pavers, are like hard sponges and will readily absorb damaging agents such as water, grout, water-borne salts and oil based stains.

Problems arising without pre sealing.

Picture framing is an ugly discolouration that occurs to the outer rim of the surface of the tile. The source is usually the seepage of grout that migrates into the side of the tile.

                   Grout Haze                     Picture Framing                         Efflorescence

Efflorescence is when water is being driven out as a result of the curing of adhesive, or grout, brings salts to the surface. As the water evaporates, it leaves the salt behind, which forms a white, fluffy deposit.

Grout Haze is another expense to deal with as, to rectify, will require utilisation of all sorts of acids and chemicals that could damage the surface of the tile, with the introduction of polymer-modified grout it is more difficult to clean.

The final seal can be applied after grout installation or we can seal the stone at our factory.

Lustre sealing treatments offer a range of penetrating sealers and surface sealers. Lustre will select the correct sealer and pre-sealer for the job.  The selection of sealer is dictated by the client's usage and the desired finish.  For example. if you require the material to be enhanced, we should not seal with an alcohol based sealer as it will not work.

The truth of the matter is if you don’t utilise a certified professional sealer applicator such as Lustre you are usually throwing your money down the drain. Ask your sealer applicator for a copy of his certification, it is better to be sure then sorry.
