There are two methodologies in polishing marble stone floor tiles and it all comes down to the severity condition of the stone floor and the depth of the scratches and etches.

This process removes deep scratches and etches we will require removing lippage, honing the material. Honing essentially means sanding. The surface is honed away to the required depth. 

It is generally done wet, to eliminate dust. This procedure uses a descending industrial diamond pads to work the stone down through the grades to achieve a uniform matt finish.

This is a similar process to remove scratch from a timber floor. The next step uses an ascending industrial diamond pads to work the stone from a hone surface up through the grades to achieve the desired polished of your choice low lustre (egg shell), semi-gloss (satin), or high gloss finish.
